TPI welcomes new partner hDMT
The TPI partner programme is pleased to announce that hDMT is joining as a partner. With the addition of hDMT, TPI welcomes a consortium, consisting of the hDMT foundation and 16 partner organizations, including (technical) universities, university medical centers, a university of applied sciences and a knowledge and innovation institute. This offers opportunities to more quickly implement non-animal models in practice.

hDMT joins Transition Animal-free Innovation
hDMT has officially become a partner of the Transition Animal-free Innovation (TPI) programme of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature (LVVN). A great step that fits well with the ambition hDMT to accelerate the development and application of advanced humane model systems. As a TPI partner, hDMT wants to contribute to the acceleration of animal-free innovations and bridge the gap between science, policy and practice. hDMT’s new managing director will join the core group, while Saskia Aan (manager science) will join the transition group.
Better models with human tissues and organs
hDMT supports the development of dynamic models of human tissues and organs (Organ-on-Chip, Organoids, etc.) that realistically mimic processes in the human body. These models help to better understand diseases, personalize treatments and predict the safety and efficacy of substances and drugs. Reduction and, in time, possible replacement of laboratory animals by these models, and the pioneering role that hDMT plays in this, fit well with TPI's ambition to accelerate the transition towards animal-free innovation.
Biomed NXTGEN and hDMT INFRA
hDMT’s participation in TPI also relates to programs such as Biomed NXTGEN Hightech, in which they are collaborating with industrial partners to scale up and implement biomedical products. They also make knowledge, facilities and expertise widely available to researchers and companies through our NWO-supported infrastructure, hDMT INFRA.
Accelerating the transition together
The collaboration within the TPI-programme offers hDMT and its partners access to other relevant networks and stakeholders committed to a future in which non-animal methods are part of much human-relevant research. TPI is looking forward to speeding up the transition in cooperation with hDMT and the other 11 partners!
