Research programme on human measurement models

Research using human data or cells can render animal testing obsolete and can improve the application of outcomes to human bodies. On this basis, a programme for better health research using human models was launched in March 2020.

Research using human data and cells

For instance:

  • using cultured retinal cells from patients to better understand and treat eye diseases (eye on a chip);
  • deploying human data in computer models to gain insight into brain diseases;
  • measuring communication between human brains and organs, for instance to prevent incontinence.
